HAIR LOSS TREATMENT : MEDICATION
- Male androgenic alopecia : Finasteride (Propecia) and Minoxidil 5%, and Dutasteride (Avodart) under certain conditions.
- Female androgenic alopecia is common : Minoxidil 2% or 5%, and antiandrogens (cyproterone acetate, spironolactone) in case of hyperandrogenism.
- Telogen effluvium : often heals without treatment after 3 to 4 months (after pregnancy, fever, surgery ...).
- Anagen effluvium due to chemotherapy : preventive measures (cooling helmet).
- Dermatitis and systemic conditions that cause a specific hair loss should receive appropriate treatment, according to each case.
- Scarring alopecia treatment : once stabilized the reconstruction process by hair transplant is sometimes possible.
- Alopecia areata in small plates often heals quickly without treatment, more important alopecia requires rapid care.
